Timeless Values: The Immutable Essence of Islamic Obligations and Traditions
In a world full of change, some things always stay the same. Islamic obligations and traditions form the solid foundation of our faith, a source of peace in a dynamic world. The Qur'an reminds us: "The day when the earth and the mountains will tremble and the mountains will become a heap of sand." (73:14)
The traditions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) reinforce this truth. In Sahih Muslim it says: "The best that I and the prophets before me have spoken is: 'There is no god but Allah, worshiping Him alone without partners, adhering to prayer and paying the poor tax for charity.'" ( Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 19)
Another hadith also emphasizes the core values of our faith. In Sahih al-Bukhari it says: "The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Actions are judged by intentions, and everyone will be rewarded according to his intentions.'" (Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 1, Hadith 1 )
Adhering to Our Essential Values in a Modern World
While we remain true to these age-old pillars, we also embrace the pleasures of the Islamic lifestyle in our contemporary world. Take for example the concept of sadaqah (charity). Our ancestors performed the sacrifice of sadaqah by giving food, clothing and money to the less fortunate. In our modern world we can translate this principle to volunteering in local communities, supporting charities, and even sharing knowledge and skills to help others.
The Qur'an says: "Say: 'Who has forbidden the wonderful things of God that He has produced for His servants?'" (7:32) This reminds us that while we follow our essential traditions, we can also enjoy the good things that our modern world has to offer. This does not mean that we have to give up our values, but rather that we can integrate them into our daily lives.
Bringing together Islamic Traditions and Trends
As Islamica, we understand that following traditions does not mean ignoring the world around us. We can be proud of our identity while creating positive change in our communities. By being involved in social initiatives, embracing technological developments and taking advantage of educational opportunities, we find a healthy balance between our rich history and the modern world in which we live.
Our Standards and Values are Remained
Importantly, we recognize that there is nothing wrong with enjoying contemporary fashion, technology, food and other modern conveniences, as long as it remains within Islamic frameworks. These aspects of modern life can enrich our lives and help us grow. At the same time, we should never forget our norms and values and fulfill our obligations to Allah in the original way we were taught.
An Eternal Journey
May the unchanging wisdom of Islam guide us on our journey, and may Allah enable us to strengthen our beliefs as we enjoy the blessings of the modern world. Let our traditions be our guide, and let us spread good in the world around us.
